Job Description

The 4TH Engineer is responsible for: 
 Keeping an engine room watch at sea and in port. 
 Performing such duties and maintenance work as directed by Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer. 
 Maintenance of auxiliary boilers and associated equipment such as valves, level gauges, safety valves, boiler water treatment procedures, soot blowers etc. 
 Cooling water treatment main generators 
 Checking and proper running of lifeboat motors 
 Tightness control of running condition, overhauling and replacing of fuel pumps, fuel valves, starting valves. 
 Proper maintenance and operation of emergency generator and emergency fire pump, including weekly running test. 
 Ensuring that the areas of the vessel he is responsible for complying with the Company’s environmental policies, processes and any International/Local requirements for the environment. 
 Demonstrating his commitment to safety and environmental excellence through his behavior. 
 Actively participating in the implementation of the EPs related to Engine Dept.’s activities. 
 Participating in vessel’s Safety & Environmental Committee meetings.
