Job Description

Electrician/ETO shall be familiar with all marine electrical equipment including motors, 
contractors, thermal relays, switchboards, as well as the instrumentation, protection devices, 
preferential trips and sequential starting systems of the electrical plant, which must be properly 
maintained onboard the ships. 
Previous marine experience with the shipboard electrical equipment is required. In the case that 
the Officer has land-based experience, then additional marine electrical training is required in 
order for him to be fully conversant with marine practices along with approval from the 
Technical Manager. 
The Electrician/ETO reports to the Chief Engineer in general. Condition of navigational 
equipment and matters concerning safety of the vessel are to be reported to the Master.
