Job Description

The 3/E is responsible for: 
 Keeping an engine room watch at sea and in port. 
 The maintenance of Main Generators and associated equipment such as valves, level gauges, safety valves, fuel / gas burner control and soot blowers etc. 
 Maintenance of fuel filters 
 Testing and recording of auxiliary boiler water and engine cooling water samples. 
 Assisting in the maintenance and condition of main and auxiliary machinery as delegated by the Chief Engineer/2/E 
 Maintenance of Gas Plant in the absence of a Gas Engineer. 
 Ensuring that the areas of the vessel he is responsible for complying with the Company’s environmental policies, processes and any International/Local requirements for the environment. 
 Demonstrating his commitment to safety and environmental excellence through his behavior. 
 Actively participating in the implementation of the EPs related to Engine Dept.’s activities. 
 Participating in vessel’s Safety & Environmental Committee meetings. 
 Observing all applicable rules and regulations with regard to pollution prevention and timely reporting to his superiors
