Job Description

  • Carry out work and orders issued by the superiors or Duty Officer
  • Practice personal safety in the execution of own work on board
  • Stop any unsafe work or practice being observed onboard regardless of rank, shore-based personnel, contractors, officials or any other person
  • Report to superior or Duty Officer when STOP WORK AUTHORITY have been used
  • Familiarize with updates to Odfjell’s Safety Management System
  • Familiarize with checklists relevant to own duties regarding special and critical operations
  • Familiarize with use of personal protection equipment (PPE), safety equipment and emergency equipment
  • Familiarize with the risks and safe handling requirements regarding hazardous products, for example paint, paint thinner, cleaning chemicals, oil and grease
  • Familiarize with the location and operation of lifesaving appliances and fire extinguishing equipment
  • Participate on pre-work talks and conferences
  • Contribute to risk assessment of tasks and ensure work permit is obtained before executing
  • Work related to deck machinery and cranes shall be carried out only by qualified personnel
  • Assist during mooring operations as ordered by the Chief Officer

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Documentary Requirements:

  • Diploma, Transcript of Records, Certificate of Authentication & Verification, Certificate of attendance from an academic institution
  • Passport
  • Seaman's Book
  • Training Certificates in:
    • Basic Training
    • Basic Training in Oil and Chemical
  • COP Basic Training
  • COP Basic Training in Oil and Chemical
  • COP Ship Security Awareness Training and Seafarers with Designated Security Duties

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Graduate of Vocational/ 2 years of Basic Seamanship Course, Deck Marine NC II, Enhanced Support Level Program
  • SHS Maritime track graduates are welcome to apply.
